Removing Red Wine Stains Is Not A Cause For Panic

Imagine that you are hosting a party for some of your best friends. The atmosphere is bubbling with the excitement of everyone chatting and mingling with each other, when all of a sudden you hear a crashing sound and see the sight that every host prays will never happen; a glass of red wine has taken a swan dive and landed not on your tile floor where it is easy to clean up but on to your very embarrassed guest and all over your furniture. It would appear that Murphys Law has struck again, but dont panic, it is possible to get red wine stains out!

The first thing to do (aside from not panicking) when cleaning red wine spills is to remove the excess spillage. If the wine has been spilled on a couch or carpet take an absorbent cloth (something you dont mind being stained) or paper towel and blot the excess wine, do not rub in any way! The point of blotting it to remove the wine without working it further into the fabric. If it was a piece of clothing that has been spilled on, remove the article and blot in the same manner.

Once the excess wine has been removed it is very important to rinse the carpet, furniture or clothing to dilute the wine before it has a chance to set in. The best method for this is going to vary on what exactly where the spill is. For clothing or other items that are easily removed, pour cold water from the backside. For items such as carpets and sofas pouring water directly onto the stain and blotting with an absorbent cloth immediately works best.

There is a good chance that this will not take the stain out completely. Carpet and furniture cleaner very well may need to be used. In the past I have had much success with Resolve cleaners for carpets, and for laundry there are many stain removers that should be helpful. A little trick my mother taught me which works wonders is Lestoil. I know some of you may be thinking to yourself that you always thought Lestoil was a floor cleaner, but when diluted with water and used as a soaking agent it works wonders on lots of stains including grease (when mixed with hot water) and wine (when mixed with cold water).

Of course even with all your best efforts there is always the chance that the red wine is going to be so stubborn that you need to call in the professionals. Carpets and furniture sometimes are dry clean only but it is still best to remove as much of the stain as possible while it is still wet because this will make it easier for the professionals to remove the remnants.

The key to ensuring effective stain removal is time. Do not let a stain sit for days or weeks before deciding to try to remove it and dont wait a week before ringing a carpet cleaner because by then it might just be too late and the stain is now a permanent fixture. The same goes for clothing, dont wait to wash your shirt or pants. I once watched a friend take a shirt out of the washing machine become horrified at the fact that the red wine didnt come out of her top. When I asked her when she spilled on herself, she told me that it was from a week before. No wonder the stain didnt come out!

In the end there is always going to be the possibility that the stain has decided that it never wants to come out or it will not come out completely. Taking the proper steps the moment a spill occurs can greatly reduce the chance of a permanent stain. There is no easy way to prevent spills and stains, aside from slipcovers or not serving red wine at social events, so when a spill does happen remember to stay calm, work quickly and to blot.

Keeping Up with Fraud

Have you ever noticed that when you build a 10-foot security fence, thieves find an 11-foot ladder? Unfortunately, in recent years there has been a rush on identity theft: someone stealing your personal information and obtaining credit cards, cell phones and loans in your name, and maybe cleaning out your bank account. There have been numerous recent reports that credit card processing companies have experienced security breaches and millions of confidential records stolen. The ultimate result of such activity is stolen identities, ruined credit reports and untold misery as innocent citizens unravel the mess made of their lives. In the meantime, credit reporting bureaus are slow to make amends and obtaining needed new credit is virtually impossible.

The general consensus is that the escalating struggle between commerce and criminality will not be resolved quickly. Organized crime rings have boosted their sophistication in using Internet and "crimeware" programs to circumvent the defenses that have been erected against them. These crime rings are organized, have done their homework and remain a few steps ahead of the business community. We're not talking about teenage "hackers": identity theft is now the province of smart, relentless, organized criminals intent on gaining access to personal information to obtain credit cards and access to bank accounts to steal assets. The information age is not likely to reverse itself with computers, ATMs and credit cards becoming things of the past: we can anticipate heightened identity theft in the future. Between 2001 and 2004, identity theft complaints to the Federal Trade Commission raced upward by 186%. What can we do?

Start by acknowledging that identity theft is a problem that merits our concern and precautions are warranted. Obvious things like shredding sensitive documents, not providing vital information to unauthorized people, protecting computers with anti-virus, spyware, and firewalls, and monitoring our credit reporting activity must become routine. While the liability limit of a stolen credit card is only $50, the resulting impact on a credit rating can have shattering effect on the ability to obtain needed credit at a reasonable interest rate, insurance at the standard rate or even being considered for a new job. Additionally, negative information generated by identity theft can linger in a credit file for years. The theft of a Social Security number and enough other personal information to obtain credit cards, loans, or divert assets is a more serious matter that cannot be corrected without a commitment of substantial resources - financial and otherwise. In fact, the average identity theft victim in 2004 spent about 330 hours over a six to nine month period to mend the damages. Based on average wages, this translates into $8,000 in lost or potential income - not counting payment for bogus charges that creditors refused to forgive or extra interest paid due to a diminished credit score. In many cases the victim did not discover their identity theft for months, and in some cases years, after the fraud.

The best defense against identity theft is to monitor your credit faithfully. Early detection is the key, and the best way to accomplish this is to hire a service to watch over your name and credit report daily. Before you dismiss this as too expensive, be aware that identity theft monitoring comes free with some financial products offered by insurance companies, or at very low cost from banks. Ask your financial advisor if there is a free service to protect you against identity theft. While you are now entitled under federal law to a free credit report from each of the national credit reporting agencies, you have to take the initiative to obtain and then understand what they have provided. The identity service that most likely can be obtained free through your financial advisor will provide all the credit reporting agencies information in one easy-to-read document. In addition, you get daily credit activity monitoring from all three national credit reporting agencies; notification by e-mail or regular mail of certain activity that occurs in your credit file; and automatic quarterly notification, even if nothing changes in your credit file. Daily monitoring will notify you of any new inquiries, derogatory information, accounts, public records, or change of address that have been added to your credit files as reported by any of the major credit reporting agencies. If no information has been added or changed, you will still receive quarterly notification.

Whether your financial advisor provides identity theft protection or you obtain it on your own, this ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If you haven't already, I encourage you to take steps now to protect your identity. More information is available at www.idtheftcenter.org.

5 Easy Ways To Free Up Your Garage Space

The garage is probably the most disorganized part of a house. Cars are not the only things found there. Sometimes the garage can also act as a tool shed. Yes, you read that right. You can find car repair tools, which is not unusual at all, but you can also find paint, hardware items, boxes of old clothing, worn-out golf clubs, and pairs of shoes that have seen better days. In this case, the garage has suddenly been turned into a stockroom.

Don't you know that there will be around 30 to 40 percent more space in your garage that you can use if you only get it organized? I'm not kidding. An organized garage can be very useful in storing a lot of different items, but you will not able to use the space at its maximum capacity if your garage is the epitome of chaos.

Not to worry! Here are five easy ways to achieve an organized garage.

Group Similar Items Together

It is very important to sort out everything in your garage. Group together items of similar kind - sporting equipment, hardware tools, electrical equipment, old clothing, pieces of unused furniture. You will be amazed how at much stuff you have. Once you have finished sorting, only then will you be able to think of the best plan to organize them. When all the items are grouped together, you will actually see how much space you have and how you will be able to utilize such a space. You will also take into account the items that need to be moved to the attic, to the basement, or to your next garage sale.

Create A Space For Seasonal Items

You may install a special rack or cabinet to hold tools and equipment that are only used in particular seasons. Keep all snow shovels, snow blowers and ice scrapers together. You may also include winter sports and recreational equipment such as snowboards, sleds and skis. On the other hand, items used during warm seasons - such as inflatable tools, beach balls, paddles - are supposed to be grouped together in another cabinet. This will help you find the tools a lot easier no matter what the season may be.

Add Shelves And Cabinets

You may also consider mounting new shelves and cabinets onto walls. This is very helpful in maximizing your space. The key is to create a space that can be very accessible for frequently or regularly used items. This will help you access the tools a lot easier. No need to play hide-and-seek every time you are looking for a specific item.

Appoint A Particular Working Area

If you are fond of do-it-yourself projects, you may also like to create a workshop of sorts in your garage. You can install a table and a bench to be used during home improvement or craft projects. This is a great way of utilizing the space in your garage. Having a specific working area will also make frequently used tools such as hammers, screwdrivers and pliers very accessible.

Place Your Recycling Bins Near The Garage

For easier disposal of trash, keep your trash and recycling bins near the garage. This is a very good trick especially if you are the type of person who keeps things because the trash bins are far away. So every time you work on your project, or find anything that you no longer need, it will be very easy to dispose of it as the trash bins are only a few steps away.

These are five ways that will greatly help in keeping an organized garage. Once you have everything sorted out, it is time to contact a handyman to help you install the cabinets and shelves you need so you will have a place for all the stuff you have sorted out. Remember that the first step is to sort your stuff. If you have done the aforementioned steps, you will definitely notice how much junk you need to throw away and how much space you are actually not maximizing. An organized garage will keep you from playing hide-and-seek with all those items that seemed to have been lost or misplaced.

Online Debt Consolidation

Online debt consolidation comes in many forms, so it is important that each consumer reflects on what their needs and concerns and financial situation is before signing up for an online debt consolidation program. The four primary concerns for most consumers are: i) monthly payment, ii) time to debt freedom, iii) total cost, and iv) the credit rating impact of the consolidation program. Be sure to evaluate each program, relative to your prioritization of these factors.

Since there are a variety of online debt consolidation options, including credit counseling, debt negotiation/debt settlement, a debt consolidation loan, and other debt resolution options, it is important to fully understand each option and then pick the solution that is right for you.

Credit Counseling

Credit counseling, or signing up for a debt management plan, is a very common form of online debt consolidation. There are many companies offering online credit counseling, which is essentially a way to make one payment directly to the credit counseling agency, which then distributes that payment to your creditors. Most times, a credit counseling agency will be able to lower your monthly payments by getting interest rate concessions from your lenders or creditors. It is important to understand that in a credit counseling program, you are still repaying 100% of your debts but with lower monthly payments. On average, most online credit counseling programs take around five years. While most credit counseling programs do not impact your FICO score, being enrolled in a credit counseling debt management plan DOES show up on your credit report and, unfortunately, many lenders look at enrollment in credit counseling akin to filing for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy or using a third part!
y to re-organize your debts.

Debt Settlement

Debt settlement, also called debt negotiation, is a form of online debt consolidation that cuts your total debt, sometimes over 50%, with lower monthly payments. Debt settlement programs typically run around three years. It is important to keep in mind, however, that during the life of your debt settlement program, you are NOT paying your creditors. This means that a debt settlement solution of online debt consolidation will negatively impact your credit rating. Your credit rating will not be good, at a minimum, for the term of your debt settlement program. However, debt settlement is usually the fastest and cheapest way to debt freedom, with a low monthly payment, while avoiding Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. The trade-off here is a negative credit rating versus saving money.

Debt Consolidation Loan

Many people think first of a debt consolidation loan when seeking online debt consolidation. This option typically means a second home loan (or home equity line of credit) or refinancing your primary mortgage. In a debt consolidation loan, you exchange one loan for another. The most frequent form is taking out a mortgage loan, which carries a lower interest rate and is tax deductible, to pay off high interest rate credit card debt. It is important to be aware that shifting unsecured debt to secured debt can create a volatile situation, if there is ever a chance that you cannot afford the new mortgage payment you are now putting yourself at risk of foreclosure! In the case of a debt consolidation loan, most mortgages are 30 year loan, which means that the total cost and the time to debt freedom could be very high but the monthly payment will be lower than other options and there is no credit rating impact.

Net-net: while there are many forms of online debt consolidation, many people with good to perfect credit who own homes should look into debt consolidation loans, while consumers with high credit card debt and poor credit may want to explore debt settlement or debt negotiation. However, each consumer is different, so find the online debt consolidation option that fits for you.

Hope for the Earth

The future of the earth lies in our hands, and not only in our hands but in our hearts, our minds, and in the ability that each of us has to contribute to the vast network of light and of consciousness of which we form a part. This network includes every living soul and allows each of us to make more of a contribution to the whole of life than our smaller self would have us believe is possible. Yet, the truth is that each heart and each life makes a difference of immense proportions to the outcome of what shall be. For this reason, we must each assume responsibility for what we think and feel and come to understand that it is only by purifying our emotions, thoughts, and energy body that a new life for the earth can begin and new solutions be found to the problems of old that have beset mankind and continue to do so.

The choice is ours and the possibilities are great. For in every heart there is a wish for peace and in every heart there is distress at the suffering of others as well as at our own. Yet, our difficulty in conceiving of our own interconnectedness with others and our sense of being small rather than large can prevent the kind of alignment with light that is so greatly needed today in order to bring mankinds consciousness to the next level of its expression.

Today, there is hope for the earth and for each soul who inhabits her sphere and it lies in this: that through the greater advent of light on earth we are becoming more aware of our inner relationship to each other and with our own souls, and out of this sense of interconnection shall grow an immediacy of love and of responsibility which no longer permits the divisions among groups and among nations that presently exists.

This love will display itself not only in outer action, but in inner knowledge, and not only in the wish to do good, but in the wish to become a representative and embodiment of that which is ultimately good, namely, God. This then, is the call to all nations - it is a call for people everywhere to meet the challenge and the opportunity of this pivotal time in human history with a sense of hope and of vision. It is a call to meet Gods heart from a place within our own that seeks the expression of our soul and the presence of a lasting peace.

A Few Easy Steps To Active Listening

It is not very often that you come across someone who really listens to you. Most people generally feel like they are not being heard. Listening actively is one of the best gifts you could ever offer to someone. With a few easy steps you can learn how to listen well to others. Listen for the following:

What they are saying What they are not saying How they are saying What their bodies are showing you Their tone of voice Are they blaming something or someone or Are they accepting responsibility What inspires them and motivates them What frightens or restricts them.

Most importantly listen for their magnificence and for the extraordinary qualities they possess. AND ... let them know how well they are doing. It is all too common to give others advice and to point out where they are going wrong. Make them aware of their uniqueness, accomplishments and successes, no matter how small they may be. Just for once, hold back on passing judgment, opinion and of giving advice. Listen to what the person is saying. Tune into them, be present and don't think of all the hundreds of other things you might need to be doing that day. By doing this, the person will feel cared for, understood and welcomed. Let them speak 80% of the time and give effective feedback 20% of the time. Not an easy task, but I am sure you will also gain from holding your tongue, not jumping in at every opportunity and interrupting.

Really try and understand what they are trying to say. Ask them to elaborate on what they mean and help to move them out of a space of worry, stress and anxiety. Pay close attention to what you hear, what you notice and search for ways of responding that will help them to make decisions. By waiting for others to finish off their own sentences and by giving them an opportunity to be truly heard and understood, you will be giving them a chance to feel like they really do matter and do count. A difficult or impossible task, some may say, but with willingness and practice you can do it and it works! Not only for them, but for you too - in ways you could never imagine. Try it out!

8 Steps to a Brighter Child and a Happier Home

It maybe child's play, but you'd be amazed at what children can learn through games. Watch children playing board games with each other, running a three legged race or playing football theyre not only having fun but also learning cooperation, teamwork, role clarity, strategy and tactics.

Not only is there is a wealth of supporting research, but there are also a growing number of educational advocates who emphasise that the most productive way of learning is through fun and hands-on experience and that game playing provides the perfect tool.

Here is a just a sample of the prestigious support behind the educational benefits of games playing:

According to the head of Ofsted, children who play traditional board games at home do better at school. He said the games help children to think for themselves, to wait their turn and to hold a conversation with adults. And he expressed a concern that computer games and television can discourage children from activities that better stimulate their imagination.

Stephen Twigg, Education minister, said that play is vitally important to education.

The National Union of Teachers conference produced a statement saying that children, in particular, learn through play and they want everyone to spend more time playing, as a "crucial" lifelong learning tool.

The National Foundation for Educational Research concluded that children should have more access to "play-based" learning.

John Dewey, the founder of modern educational theories, wrote in Democracy and Education experience has shown that when children have a chance at physical activities which bring their natural impulses into play, going to school is a joy, management is less of a burden and learning is easier

Even the venerable Plato said Not by force shall the youth learn, but through play.

Learning through play is the idea behind MindLab, an after school education programme that teaches children thinking and social skills through playing board games from around the world. The positive impact of MindLab on childrens development is supported by prestigious research which shows that children who follow a MindLab curriculum demonstrate a substantial and lasting improvement in strategic reasoning and problem solving skills as well as standardised maths and verbal reasoning tests.

Assuming you are now convinced of the educational benefits of game playing, you may next be asking, what do I do to reap the benefits of game playing with my own children?

Here are 8 steps to help you bring the many benefits of game playing to your own family to produce brighter children and a happier home life.

1. Buy or dust off some games that are old favourites. Games like draughts, dominoes, connect four and card games, are not only terrific fun but they are also stimulating, challenging and involve concentration and strategy.

2. Chose an convenient slot in your weekly family pattern that is an ideal time for your family to sit down together and play a few games, such as a Friday evening or a Sunday afternoon, for example.

3. Add some elements to help game time become a family tradition: add favourite foods (bowls of popcorn or hot chocolate perhaps?) a comfy warm setting (in front of a roaring fire?), invite grandparents etc.

4. Start with games that a suited to the youngest age group present, or have a few games going at the same time that fit the various age ranges. Make sure everyone understands the rules and aims of the game being played and give everyone the benefit of examples of good moves and strategies by illustrating them on the game board before beginning the real game.

5. Explain that to enjoy playing games we all have to play by the rules, respect our partners and respect the outcome of the game. Regardless if we win or lose, to have fun playing games together we cant gloat when we win, and cant get upset when we lose. If we play lots of games together, there will be lots of chances for each of us to win sometimes, and lose sometimes. Either way we will have had a fun time playing together.

6. Show your own interest and enthusiasm for the game, give it concentration and effort, both for your own enjoyment, and also as a role model for your children. Rather than play ineffectively to ensure your child wins, instead, help your child learn from your game playing skills. Discuss out loud the moves you are making and why, to help your child understand the strategies you are using. If your child makes a move that is to their disadvantage, encourage them to look again and guide them to see a better move by asking them open questions such as what are all the different options you have? What would happen if you take that move? What might be a better move that you can take? I can see a way that you can win, can you see it?

7. Whether your child wins or loses, at the end of the game summarise what you learnt from the game and then ask your child what did you learn from that game? What might you do differently next time we play?

8. Keep the game time fresh by bringing in new games. Surprise everyone by giving the family a new game present every few weeks. Games that can be played within an hour and involve thinking, memory, strategy or calculation are recommended such as: Othello, Guess Who, Mancala, Nine Man Morris, Scrabble, Chinese Chequers or Rush Hour.

We hope you enjoy and learn from game time in your family as much as we do in ours!

Toddlers Planning a Vacation with Kids

Got Toddlers? Got Chaos! Planning any kind of trip with toddlers can be complicated. There are certain things to keep in mind that might help preserve your sanity and possibly even let you have a little bit of fun together as a family.

Arrive Leisurely

Traveling with a toddler can take a toll on even the most patient parent. If you are flying, the experience can be exciting and will keep them occupied for about ten minutes before your little one is ready to start a full-scale exploration effort. In an airplane you do have the opportunity to get up and move around take a trip to the restroom or, pilot willing, consider a trip to the cockpit.

Car rides can be complicated as well. Fortunately, toddlers are great at napping in the car, so you might consider leaving right before naptime and letting your enthusiastic one sleep the first couple of hours. A lot of parents also drive in the evening in hopes of a sleepy car ride for longer than a few hours.

While your toddler is awake, consider a favorite video, toys (http://www.spiffybaby.com/Toys-Playtime-p-1-c-5.html), books, coloring, action figures, snacks and anything else you can think of to keep them entertained. Plan on plenty of stops along the way to get out, change diapers and stretch legs. Rushing to get anywhere just makes things more stressful, so dont get in a hurry.

Maintain a Routine

Your toddler probably has a nice nap routine at home, and vacation is not a time to wing it. If your little one naps at noon every day, move mountains to help them nap at noon on the road. Take a break in the hotel room or alternate separate parent activities so someone is there to help even the most reluctant toddler take a break in a busy day. Try to keep bedtime reasonably close to normal, too a tired toddler is not a toddler that travels well.

Keep it Loose

If you are a scheduling fanatic when it comes to travel, toddler travel may not be for you. Plan activities with plenty of cushion time in between. Toddlers arent able to appreciate fine architecture, but they love a good fountain or the local zoo. Find activities that have a little bit of something for everyone zoos, parks, beaches, hikes, wildlife, etc

Mix grown-up activities in with toddler activities to give everyone something to look forward to. You might also want to pick a few of the most important landmarks to see and leave the rest for when your child has an attention span longer than fifteen minutes. Above all, just remember that this should be fun for everyone even if you never leave the hotel pool!

4 Secrets for Beauty & Wellness

4 Secrets for Beauty & Wellness: Learn basic tips that really work to look and feel your best

Londons Markets

Markets are an important part of everyday life in London, where produce is sold, goods are bartered and bargains are made. There are several scattered all over the city, all specialising in different wares. Heres a guide to the main markets and what they have to offer.

Antiques

Bermondsey
Address: Bermondsey Square on Tower Bridge Road
Trading: 04.00 to 12.00 daily
Description: One of Londons oldest markets, Bermondsey is famous as a haunt of thieves, due to an ancient ruling (which, incredibly was only recently abolished) stating that the origin of goods sold before sunrise could not be brought under suspicion, therefore allowing stolen goods to be traded freely and without question. For this reason, the market has traditionally started very early in the morning. Get there early to find the best antiques.

Portobello Road
Address: Portobello Road, Notting Hill
Trading: Saturdays, 06.00 to 16.00
Description: This area was a popular hippy hang-out in the 1960s and still has a bohemian feel today. The Saturday market stretches the whole length of the road and sells antiques and bric-a-brac as well as fruit and vegetables. The road itself is lined with antique shops, so its worth a visit any day of the week.
Bric-a-Brac

Brick Lane
Address: Brick Lane, Whitechapel, East End
Trading: 07.00 to 14.00 on Sundays
Description: In the heart of Londons Bangladeshi community, this market is surrounded by Indian restaurants and sells all sorts of junk and jumble from tables and chairs to kitchen sinks.
Fashion and Music

Camden
Address: Camden Lock, Camden Stables, Buck Street and Inverness Street in Camden Town
Trading: Sundays, 10.00 to 18.00, although many stalls are now open throughout the week
Description: This is a lively and colourful part of the city with some weird and wonderful market stalls selling unique clothing and jewellery and alternative music.

Petticoat Lane
Address: Middlesex Street, Wentworth Street and around, Whitechapel, East End
Trading: weekdays and Sundays from 09.00 to 14.00
Description: Started over 400 years ago by French petticoat sellers, this market is still going strong today. The Lane was renamed by the prudish Victorians to Middlesex Street in order not to offend any delicate sensibilities, but the market retains its historic name. You wont find many womens undergarments any more, but most of the stalls still specialise in clothing.
Food

Borough
Address: Southwark Street, just south of the River
Trading: fruit and vegetable wholesale Monday to Friday 04.00 to 08.00; farmers market and fine food market Fridays 12.00 to 18.00 and Saturdays 09.00 to 16.00
Description: Traditionally a fruit and vegetable wholesaler, this market has been extended in recent years to include an excellent fine food market and a farmers market. Its housed in a marvellous Victorian hall.

Leadenhall
Address: Gracechurch Street, next to Lloyds of London and near Bank of England
Trading: weekdays, 08.00 to 15.00
Description: Another great food market in an old Victorian building. Its in the heart of the City, Londons financial district, and is busy with office crowds at lunchtime.

Billingsgate
Address: Trafalgar Way, Docklands, East End
Trading: Tuesday to Saturday 05.00 to 08.30, Sunday 06.00 to 08.00

Gifts and Other Goods

Covent Garden

Greenwich

Arizona State Health Insurance-Ways to Control Costs

Arizona state health insurance offers the full gamut of health insurance options.

As with any type of insurance it pays to be an educated consumer and know the options and features available to you. This can be invaluable when going online in search of plans and quotes that will work for you. If you really know what youre talking about you can streamline Arizona health insurance options and find a quote that will fit your economic and medical criteria.

There are two variables that can be manipulated and so control costs.

1. Benefits

The more benefits you subscribe to the higher the cost of the policy. It behooves one to take a good look at exactly what is necessary to be fully covered and only get that which is necessary when trying to control costs. The three variables that will have direct bearing on the cost of the policy found within this category are the amount of coverage, the amount of the deductible and the amount of the copays. The higher the amount of coverage the higher the premium, the same cant be said the deductible or copays, in their case the opposite holds true.

2. Choices

The choices Im referring to in this section have to do with physicians and hospitals. Different plans and aspects of plans offer varying amounts of leniency when it comes to being able to choose who your doctor is and what hospitals you can go to while still receiving health insurance coverage. If you dont really care about such things and are just honing in on a lower premium these factors may not matter to you. For many these are important considerations. Friends of mine have had to pay more because an ambulance had to take them to a different hospital than listed on their plan. As always the decision of what to choose is a very personal one and one should always go the route best suited to them.

Knowing the possibilities of options and choices will help you find just the right combination of insurance options when you go online in search of Arizona state health insurance. You will be an educated, well prepared to find the best deals.

Holiday Marketing Magic for New Year Success

Can you believe its November already? The holidays are here and then the start of a new year will be upon us. Now is a perfect time to reflect on your business and see if it is all that it can be. Is it running at full speed and do you have all the clients that you need?

If not, its time to get those engines moving and start into action before the New Year begins. I know, its the holidays and theres a lots going on. But also its the perfect opportunity to connect with your clients and get a head start on potential work for next year. You will find that communication is so much easier when you can utilize holiday greetings, holiday goodies, and holiday presents. Holiday gifts and candy will ease the way to a Hi, how have you been? Send me more business! Or for those new potential clients, Hi, how are youYou need ME.

First, reconnect with ALL your clients and let them know how you appreciate them and perhaps how you can help them with other needs they may not even know you offer. Send a personalized holiday card or greeting. For local clients stop by their office and drop off presents, popcorn tins for the staff and/or their favorite coffee for their afternoon pick-me-up. For potential new clients, drop off a Holiday cup full of wrapped candy with your business card or perhaps get your business name printed on the candy bar. Also, consider sending a specialty cake, such as a coffee lovers cake from Make a Diaper Cake Biz, http://www.makeadiapercake.biz. You can make your own or have Barb Ireland create one for you.

For all you Virtual Assistants or word processors out there, dont forget to stop by any small post offices or UPS shops and offer to put your business cards there. Many of these places will add your business card holders directly to the counter. Think how much traffic is going through these places shipping out those presents and what great exposure that can be. And the best news is that they usually do allow business cards with a business card holder. Just think about it, people waiting impatiently in line, pick up your card and BINGONew Client.

Other tips include:

 Read and research new things. So many great promotions are going on now with the holidays and New Year coming. Look to them and see whats out there and how you can apply it to your business. Take advantage of the teleclasses and seminars that are offered by the pros. Yes, they are going to try and sell you something, but by golly the information you receive will be worth it and you dont have to buy.

 Join Associations: Join the association that youve heard about by so many but havent made the commitment yet. Start the New Year with a firm commitment to attend at least one engagement a month or more. See what a difference it can make in your business by talking with pros in your industry or networking with businesses, who might utilize your services or products.

 Get moving online. Go to the message boards and chats and network. Meet people and introduce you and your business. Offer tips and suggestions and actively be a part of the forum. Ive been in business since 1985 so this year I will be celebrating 21 years in business. I owe a lot of my success to being active on the boards and letting people get to know me and trust me. My message board is up and running and eager for more virtual assistants to stop by and learn how to become a virtual assistant. Its at http://www.Publicity-VA.com.

 Your Website. Now it can all go to waste if they these potential clients get to your website and see a unprofessional, poorly built, error-ridden, mess of a site. Take a look at your website and see if it is the best that it can be. I constantly update mine at http://www.virtualwordpublishing.com to try and provide tips and suggestions for those starting a virtual assisting and also tips on publishing and, of course, our new books in our online bookstore. I know the importance of changing it frequently, so people will come back to see whats new.

Look to the overall appearance, the professionalism of your wording, the explanations explaining the benefits you provide, etc. In fact, everything in your site needs to convince a client to work with you. Now ask yourself, does it do that? Is this something I can be proud of? Too often we throw together a website, just to have it done. Remember this can often be a clients first impression of you. Is it selling you well?

So this year as others are shopping and preparing for the holidays, you can instead be preparing your business for the New Year. What a gift that would be for YOUto start your business off with a bang and lots of new clients you secured in your holiday marketing efforts.

November is a great time to reflect back on the year and plan for the next. Why not plan to make next year, your best one ever! Good Luck and Happy Marketing.

Know Your Credit Rights

Building a good credit history is extremely important. The way you handle your credit has a big impact on your way of life, your career, the way you conduct business with others, and even on the place where you live. Employers, money lenders, property owners, and business owners can all consult your credit history when determining whether or not to do business with you.

For this reason, you need to learn how credit is given and why it is rejected. In the United States, the federal government has enacted several major laws that control consumer credit including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Each of these laws gives consumers certain rights and responsibilities in the money lending process.

Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is included as Title VIII of the Consumer Credit Protection Act. The main focus of this law is on guaranteeing ethical practices in the method of collecting debts from consumers. The law encourages just, rational, and non-discriminatory treatment of consumers by forbidding debt collectors from taking unjust, offensive, or misleading actions.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act includes the following provisions:

1. Debt collectors are allowed to contact other people, aside from the debtor himself, only to find out the whereabouts of the debtor.

2. Debt collectors aren't allowed to contact the debtor before 8:00 am and after 9:00 pm local time.

3. Debt collectors aren't permitted to intimidate, pressure, or make threats of legal action or arrest to the consumer if it is not duly planned, considered, or made known to third parties.

Fair Credit Reporting Act

The Fair Credit Reporting Act upholds the confidentiality, discretion, and truth of information used in creating consumer credit reports. The Act controls the distribution, collection, and utilization of credit information and gives consumers a way to dispute incorrect information on their credit reports. Under this law, consumers are entitled to the following actions:

1. Credit bureaus are permitted to provide credit reports only to those with lawful business causes. Only entities such as insurers, employers, creditors, housing providers, and government agencies are allowed to receive an individuals credit report as part of the evaluation process.

2. Consumers must be able to access their credit reports in order to ensure the datas correctness. In cases of denied credit, consumers have the right to know which credit bureau issued the report to the lender. This way, the consumer will be able to check if there are any discrepancies on the report.

These are just some of the rights consumers enjoy under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, although there are many more. Its important to understand your rights in case you ever wind up in trouble with regard to your credit. However, unless youve studied American credit laws in depth, you may need additional assistance if you feel youre being treated unfairly. Seeking legal assistance from a reputable credit counseling service or an attorney experienced in consumer credit may be the best way to get your credit affairs in order.

Getting Rid Of Those Pesky Mosquitoes

Controlling mosquitoes

Just imagine a fun day with your family: playing baseball, having a picnic, a full day of fun. That is until you get home and realize your whole family is covered with mosquito bites. Mosquito bites are not only painful and irritating; nowadays they can also be dangerous to your health. You may think to yourself, West Nile is so rare, it will never affect my family, but for the few who do get it, it can be very serious. The worst part about West Nile virus is that it can be easily prevented by taking some simple and easy steps to protect yourself and your family.

There are several ways to help prevent mosquito bites. The first step is to remove their habitat and breeding grounds. It wont protect you from the mosquitoes you have, but it will prevent them from breeding and reduce future populations. This can be done by getting rid of standing water. If you have a pool, pond, or other body of water, make sure the water is circulating. If you have water that cant be circulated, such as a bird bath, be sure to change the water regularly so mosquito eggs laid in it dont have time to hatch. You also need to be sure there is no standing water anywhere else; such as clogged rain gutter, puddles, open garbage cans, potted plants, toys, playground equipment, and anything else that can collect even the smallest amount of water.

Another option, if you cant stop the mosquitoes from breeding, is to try to keep them away from the area youre in. This can be done through citronella candles and similar devices. They now make affordable electronic mosquito repelers that emit a sound to keep them away. You can also use yellow lights instead of white ones. They dont repel mosquitoes, but they dont attract them like white lights do. It may also help to run a fan near you when youre outside since mosquitoes dont like moving air. For keeping mosquitoes away when youre indoors, make sure your keeping your screen doors are closed (automatically closing doors are best), and appropriately attached and sealed.

Another way to prevent mosquito bites is to kill the mosquitoes you do have. This can be done through various types of pesticides. Foggers can be used to kill mosquitoes in the air where they fly, and residual insecticides can be bushes and shrubs where they rest when theyre inactive. While this solution may seem more permanent than other solutions, you will likely have the problem of mosquitoes migrating back from untreated areas near your home. The best way to help with this is by having a neighborhood mosquito plan; however, they are obviously difficult to organize and maintain. You can also control mosquitoes by using electronic bug zappers. When using these methods, you also have to be concerned about their effects on harmless insects and other wildlife in the area. Many insects that are vital to environmental health may also be killed when you exterminate mosquitoes. Larger wildlife can also be inadvertently harmed by pesticide use.

The last option for keeping yourself and your family safe from mosquitoes is to protect yourself directly through chemicals like mosquito repellants, clothing, and shelter. Be sure to use EPA-approved chemicals. If youd rather use less repellant, you can wear longer clothes and just spray around the edges: however, you should be aware that if clothing is too thin, mosquitoes can bite through it. If you are going into an area where you know there will be lots of mosquitoes, try to wear long clothes netting over your face. If there is a disease warning out for mosquitoes, it is best to just avoid going outside during times when mosquitoes are active.

Have a great time outdoors and remember to stay safe!

Lessons from Legacy: Life by Design Part 2

Making the Best Choices

We are each the sum total of the choices we have made to date. If we want a new reality, we have to make new choices. After all, the very definition of insanity is to do the same thing always and expect a different result. When we change our actions, we change our results. A perfect case in point is my Godmother, famed Hollywood costumer Edith Head. At age thirty she was teaching French to an all girls school in California, and because she had studied a semester abroad in Europe the school assumed she could also teach art. She in fact couldn't draw more than stick figures but took on the task. While looking in the paper one day, she saw a contest for drawing costumes for one of the major movie studios.

She wanted a change in career and boldly without permission "borrowed" some of her student's sketches and entered the contest. She won! When showing up on the first day and being asked to draw, she was found out, but her courage and presumption so captivated the costume designer that he took her on. The rest is history including 8 Oscars for costume design over a 50-year career. She lived a life of her own design.

What have you not pursued because you didn't have the skill set or the connections? Can you learn it? Who can help you?

Living from the Heart

Life is in the living, not in the stuff. Stuff more often than not simply weighs us down and stands in our way. In order to move forward, to continue growing and changing, we must let things go. Those elements we keep with us must serve as inspiration and memories, not as baggage. What you bring forward is up to you. My mother, Anne Baxter, was an academy award winning actress to many. To me she was a single working parent, too often gone on location and on tour. But she taught valuable lessons. She knew from age seven that she wanted to act and pursued it with a singlemindedness that few of us possess for anything in our lives. At the same time she managed to write an autobiography about her life with my father, and was in the middle of the second one about her life growing up when she died. Mother lived each and every moment with passion, vigor, and commitment to her finest. She challenged us to do the same and instilled the value I describe here. She lived her life by her own design.

When Mother passed some 20+ years ago now, we each had only a file folder of mementos that she had kept (I have two sisters). This was such a gift rather than what I see so often with clients. They keep hordes of baby clothes, bronzed shoes, elementary school artwork projects most of us would soon forget, broken trophies from days gone by and too much more. Mother saved the best, the things that really counted to her and hence they mattered to us. What better gift. The most significant legacy she left was the memories of times spent together, not the stuff left behind. When you live from your heart and your mind, not by your hand and your purse, you will truly know that it is the connections and relationships that define us, not our possessions. He who dies with the most toys, still dies.

What are you hording in terms of stuff? How is it holding you back?

Cashing in on Coca-Cola Memorabilia: New Ideas for Old Art

Coca-Cola collectors have been cashing in on the companys advertising memorabilia for years. But finding rare items has always been a challenge. Now, collectors have access to over a century of Coca-Colas famous art work, slogans and logos. Thanks to an inexpensive line of Coca-Cola tins and signs, Coke connoisseurs now have an easy and affordable way to add collectible replicas and showpieces to their colorful and highly valued collections.

An original 1943 tin advertisement showing an overseas sailor savoring the tastes of home could cost thousands of dollars in mint condition. This is over budget for most collectors, so they opt for a 12 x 13 replica that costs less than twenty dollars online. One hope of course is that this commemorative piece will be just as valuable as the original someday.

The Amazing Value Behind Cokes Original Art

They were there for the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam. They were there during World War II when they promised every man in uniform gets a bottle of Coca-Cola for five cents, wherever he is, and whatever it costs the company. They were there as the first soft drink in space, 1985. And well into its second century with 400 brands reaching every corner of the globe, Coca-Cola has become an American icon.

But an aggressive marketing campaign isnt the only reason for the advertising memorabilias success. Coke attracts the best and the brightest talent money can buy. Haddon Sundblom, inventor of the modern Santa Claus, Norman Rockwell, and Americas Golden Age illustrator, N.C. Wyeth, all illustrated genuine works of art for Coca-Cola advertisements.

Since the 1950s, the soft drinks commercials have kept pace with changing television technology: From black and white to color imagery; from stop motion animation to the super-advanced polar bear animations of the 1990s.

In 1971 the commercial jingle Id Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony) topped billboard charts and became a hit song for The New Seekers, a popular British act at the time. Waylon Jennings, Jim Neighbors, and popular artists have covered the song since then. But it started as a song for Coke.

Coca-Cola artists of the future will likely come from all over the world and be faced with new mediums for expression. But there is little doubt that the soft drink will enlist the best of the best artists as they have always done.

New Ideas for Old Art work

The popular images of war, luxury, romance, and family found in Coca-Cola art has captivated consumers for decades. Those images of days gone-by are being re-issued on collectible Coca-Cola tins and signs, which for many means enjoying the old images in new ways.

Collectors and traders can add period pieces or unique items to their collections. Whether they are interested in the sights and sounds of the 50s, or prefer something never seen before, the new tins and signs provide many options.

Interior decorators use the colorful and historical appeal of Coke-art as accent pieces. Its not uncommon to revive Coca-Cola history in a restaurant or commercial setting. But whether decorating at home, planning a special event, or at the office, the vibrant colors and warmth of the art work could provide a very American theme. Designers might find the practical uses for some of the new products to be the ideal balance between function and form.

The Most Sought-After Images

The Coke girls have always been favorites. They live the good life and drink Coke on the beach, at the soda fountain, or while playing tennis.

Wartime imagery of men and women dedicated to the war efforts and American values are very popular.

The modern Santa Claus continues to top the list.

Victorian Girl calendars are also among the most sought-after images.

The Future of Coke Memorabilia

Coca-Cola memorabilia is well on its way to a second century of success. Of course much of that success comes from the vision and imaginations of first-rate artists commissioned to capture the essence of American popular culture.

The art work is not only original, but it represents American ingenuity, American values, and it has stood the test of time. As the company prepares for future campaigns all over the world, a look back at the last century of remarkably successful advertising is sure to inspire more of the same.

7 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Starting A Business Blog

Blogging is the latest buzzword in online marketing and PR. But with so many marketers jumping on the blogging bandwagon, few people are giving a thought to whether blogs are really up their alley, or taking the time to consider the best ways of going about it.

If you are planning to start a business blog, ask yourself these questions before you take the final plunge.

1. Do you really need a blog?

Writing and maintaining a blog takes a certain degree of commitment, as well as a passion (or at least a liking) for stringing words into a decent sentence. If you don't enjoy writing that much, you could always create an audio or video blog.

But would your business objectives really be served by starting a blog? Or could other methods of online marketing - like SEO, ezine advertising or newsletter publishing work just as well, if not better?

2. Whom do you want to reach with your blog?

The first step to reaching your audience is understanding where they go to find information about your products.

If your audience largely consists of people who live in your town or use products that they search for in the newspapers, offline advertising might be more suited to your purpose.

If however, your target audience belongs to one or more of these segments, a blog might be just the thing to boost your business.

- Internet users

Does your target audience really use the internet? If not, then starting a blog (or any online activity, for that matter) will just be a huge waste of time and effort.

- Blog readers

Does your target audience read blogs? Or do they prefer to get their information in their inbox? If the latter is true, then an email newsletter might be a better option than a blog.

- Search engine users

A blog is an excellent way to boost your search engine rankings and get listed for a lot of your target keywords. If you know that your audience uses search engines to find information, a blog will increase your chances of getting their attention.

3. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

There are a lot of things that a blog can do for your business. Blogs can help you...

- Increase your visibility and search engine rankings

- Brand yourself, your products, your services, your company

- Build a community and network with people who have similar interests

- Expand your reach to those outside your current sphere of influence

- Establish your credibility as an expert or thought-leader in your field

- Put a human face on your business

- Reach out to potential customers and stakeholders

Deciding exactly what you want to achieve with your blog can help you get focused, so that you can spend your time and effort in activities that help, not hinder your business objectives.

4. How much time can you spend on your blog?

Serious business bloggers not only spend time writing their own blogs, but also spend a great deal of time reading up on current events and browsing other blogs in their field for information.

If you are prepared to put in the time and effort required to do that sort of research, your blog will serve as a good branding tool for your business. If not, you should either hire someone to do the research or seriously rethink your decision to start a blog.

5. What blogging platform will serve your needs best?

Deciding your blogging platform is an important step that you should take only after becoming familiar with the features and benefits of each option.

The reason it is so crucial is because it can be extremely difficult to migrate an established blog to a new platform once you have started it. Moving your blog can result in you losing your data, search engine listings and readers, so don't take this decision lightly.

Decide which platform will best meet your marketing objectives, time constraints and personal preferences before you make your first post.

If you are short of time, and want to spend more time writing, then a hosted solution like Blogger, Blogware, Squarespace or Typepad might serve your purpose better.

This might also prove a better option if you want to get started as soon as possible, are new to the internet, or are unfamiliar with scripts or code.

If, on the other hand, you're a control freak and don't mind spending some time and effort to customize your blog, then a server-installed software, like Wordpress, b2Evolution or Movable Type might be just right for you.

If you don't want to install the scripts yourself, choose a hosting solution with Fantastico, which comes with a one-click install of a number of blogging software.

6. How do you plan to promote your blog?

Why is it good to know this before you start your blog? Because it will help you decide where best to invest your time and effort when you need to build traffic to your blog.

You'll learn more about the methods to promote your blog later in this eCourse. Some of these tasks can be outsourced, while others you will have to do yourself.

Decide what you want to take on and look out for service providers to handle the other functions so you can start building traffic to your blog as soon as possible.

7. How will you assess the success of your blog?

To determine how successful your blog is in boosting your profile or profits you will have to measure your blog traffic and track sales or leads that have come through it.

Planning this in advance will help you take more informed decisions about your blogging metrics, choice of blogging platform and degree of customization you require on your blog.

Understand that blogging is not for everyone. It's just another form of communication. Don't get so hung up on the technology that you end up ignoring more appropriate ways of communicating your message.

Some things may be easier to communicate face to face, in a conference room, or even through the good old telephone.

But if you asked yourself all the questions above and decided that blogging meets all your objectives, then a blog may be just what the doctor ordered for your business.

Kangaroos

Kangaroos

The kangaroo is a singular creature. What other animal can jump a distance of 28 feet, or a height of 6 feet? What other animal can hop at speeds of 43 miles per hour? What other animal uses its muscular tail as a third leg to help balance and stabilize and holds kickboxing matches to determine breeding rights? Theres only one animal that fits this descriptionthe kangaroo.

At the mention of the word kangaroo two words instantly jump into peoples minds: pouch and Australia. Indeed, these large marsupials are natives to the land down under. Three species of kangaroos populate the continent: Reds, Eastern Grays, and Western Grays. Since man appeared 50,000 years ago kangaroos have been an important resource to Australias Indigenous peoples and have been used for food, clothing, and shelter. They are still hunted today, but only under strict government control. Specially adapted for the fragile ecosystem, kangaroos thrive in their home.

Kangaroos are the largest surviving marsupials in the world. A male buck can reach 6 feet tall, and weigh 200 pounds. Female flyers are slightly smaller. Their babies, called joeys, are born at only 31-36 days gestation. (This is developmentally equivalent to a 7 week old human embryo!) At only 0.35 ounces, the joeys forelimbs are developed enough to climb from the birth canal to its mothers pouch, where it attaches to one of four teats. There it stays cuddled up for nine months, transforming from a hairless, pink, bean-sized mite, to an irresistibly furry, doe-eyed darling. Then it will venture out of the security of its pouch for a short adventure before hopping back in. Its mother will feed and protect it another nine months, until her next joey is born. Flyers are perpetually pregnant once they reach maturity. Immediately after giving birth they go into heat. The fertilized embryo will go into a dormant state until the older joey has vacated the pouch. The milk produced by the flyer is specially suited to its growing joeys needs. If she is simultaneously feeding an older and a younger joey, a flyer may produce two different kinds of milk!

The rangeland where kangaroos graze is hot and arid, but kangaroos are suited for their environment. To conserve energy and keep cool kangaroos are crepuscular, meaning that they rest during the day and are most active at twilight hours. They shelter under trees and in caves and rock clefts during the day. Instead of sweating and panting, kangaroos lick themselves all over to cool off. Their long hindquarters have a stretchy tendon and studies have shown that even the kangaroos breathing is synchronized with their rhythmic leaping. In this way their agile bodies are designed to be fast and energy-efficient, two important qualities that are needed to cover the long distances in search of food and water. Kangaroos are not built for walking, and their legs do not move independently of each other. Because of this they cannot walk backwards. This fact won kangaroos a prominent position on the Australian coat-of-arms, where it symbolized progress and forward movement.

Kangaroos travel in groups of ten or more called mobs, led by the largest dominant male, called the boomer. Boomers may wander in and out of the mob, but they retain exclusive breeding rights with the females. If the mob is approached by an infrequent predator, (dingoes, dogs, and carnivorous reptiles represent the kinds of animals who may prey on kangaroos), the group will scatter. Sometimes a kangaroo will fight its enemy, and can be a formidable foe. Using its front paws to hold its attacker, the kangaroo will disembowel the enemy with its powerful hindquarters. Few people know that kangaroos can swim, and they will sometimes lead an attacker to a pool. There they will hold the enemy underwater and drown it. These traits, as well as their ability to reproduce so rapidly, give kangaroos an advantage in the wild, where they are abundant. Kangaroos live 9-18 years.

The story is told about how kangaroos got their name. When Europeans first landed on the Australian continent they saw the creature for the first time, and in astonishment they asked an aborigine what it was called. The aborigine responded, Kangaroo, meaning I dont understand your question. The Europeans thought that was its name, and from that time forward the world learned about the unique marsupial of Australiathe singular kangaroo.

Strategies for Choosing a Name for Your Baby

What's in a Name?
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet."

--From Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)

Of course, new mothers and fathers know that there is a world of difference in naming your baby "Rose" as opposed to "Skunkcabbage." When it comes to naming your baby, names do matter and you want to choose the one that means the most to you. Parents may choose a name for its meaning, for its cadence, or for its history. No matter what you decide to name your baby, always consider the child.

Before you put the name on the birth certificate, ask yourself if the name is easy to spell, if the child will get teased, if the child will even like his or her own name. Your baby's name is not only important to you, but also to your baby.

Strategies for Choosing a Name for Your Baby

Before you go name-hunting, you want to think about the kind of names you want for your baby. Are you going to choose a name that has been in your family for generations? Are you going to name your child after a favored television or movie star? Some parents name their children after favorite characters from books.

If there are names that you like, jot them down. When you hear a name that strikes a chord with you, write it down and keep all your potential names together in a notebook. You can cross off names that you decide not to use, and narrow down your list little by little. If you hear a name that you like, don't be afraid to ask how it's spelled. Write down any name that sounds good to you. Later, you and your spouse can discuss the names on the list.

Baby books and Internet sites abound that are filled with baby names. On some sites, you can look up names to find out what they mean, or what their origins are. Some people like to know what their names mean, so you want to choose wisely if meaning holds any weight with you.

Your Baby's Name

While strategies for choosing a name for your baby may fill your head for many months, the name you choose for your baby will follow him or her for the rest of their life. You want to choose a name that sounds pleasant and that you think your child will like as much as you do. Remember, you're going to say that name many times in the next forty years or so so choose wisely! Select a name that you, your baby and your family can live with. Consider its sound, because that is an important aspect of any name. Keep in mind that your baby's name is the very first thing that will define them as a person. Pick a name that means the most to you, and sounds the best to your ears. Take your time in choosing a name, and make sure that you and your spouse are both involved in strategies for choosing a name for your baby. Both parents should participate in the naming process, because babies cannot choose names for themselves.

Understanding 0 APR Credit Cards

A 0% APR is essentially a credit card offered by credit card companies to their consumers with an annual percentage rate (APR) of zero percent. However, this rate does not exist forever, and after a period that ranges between three to twelve months, credit card companies begin charging higher rates of interest. Therefore, the major factors to be considered are the duration of the no-interest period, and what would be the APR rate after the offer ends.

Advantages of owning a 0% APR Credit card:

Though 0% APR credit cards have a few catches, they can also prove to be advantageous for its users. The best way to assess these cards is by actually using one. If you pay off the monthly balance regularly, then the rate of interest will not be a major concern. Some of its main benefits are as follows:

- Cut down the interest rate: A 0% APR credit card is popular among users with heavy outstanding card balances. It helps them to slash the rate of interest incurred upon their debt.

- Travel benefits: A 0% APR credit cards offer travel benefits to its users. You could profit from this card if you travel by air frequently. Most companies provide bonus air mile benefits on APR credit cards. This could be as much as twenty-five thousand miles, merely by signing up and making your first purchase from this card. The travel facility could also be used for hotel rooms, meals and other additional alternatives. It also provides you with free gas discounts and rebates in purchasing a car.

- Cash back or reward benefits: Low APR credit cards also provide a system where you could get back a percentage of your purchases. You could get a reward of five percent for certain kinds of purchases you make.

- Paying off debt: Transferring your credit card balance that needs to be paid off to a new credit card with 0% APR would be a better money- saving solution, than holding on to the old card with a high rate of interest.

- Start up a new credit history: A 0% APR credit card can be used to establish a new credit history for a cardholder with a previous credit card debt. These cards curb the credit card usage, and initiate the necessity of spending within the budget. However, it might not be issued to people with a bad credit history.

Limitations of 0 percent interest APR credit cards:

A 0% APR credit card often comes with strings attached. Some of the major limitations are as follows:

- Usually, a 0% APR credit card offers the no-interest benefit for only a limited period, such as six months to a year.
- It might not allow you to transfer balances from high interest credit cards during the introductory 0% offer period.
- It could charge expensive fees for the process of transferring the balance.
- Some of these credit cards bear very high penalties for late payments, and automatically transfer you to an inconsistent APR rate.
- It often charges a very high interest rate once the initial offer period expires.

Therefore, although 0% APR credit cards may seem too good to be true, they do have a number of real advantages. While these promotional offers by credit card companies are useful, they need to be taken up judiciously.

Securing A Passport For Aruba Doesnt Have To Be Painful

On January 8, 2007, all travelers to Aruba and other Caribbean destinations will need a U.S. passport for air travel. The change comes as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security attempts to alleviate travel concerns about border security under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) and the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. Unlike previous years when passports were not required for travel to Caribbean beach resorts, this upcoming season has added potential for traveler headache. As many tourists that have planned their Aruba family vacation or scheduled a wedding may not be aware of the new rules, there could well be a rush on new passport applications near the end of the year. Also, because the program will be in its first season, there certainly exists a possibility of delays beyond the outlined timeframes for passport applications.

So, as you plan your activities for your Aruba wedding or vacation, you should also organize your materials for your passport application. Currently, the State Department claims that passport applications take 4 to 6 weeks to process. As backlogs are certainly expected this season, it is recommended that you either apply for your passport now as a couple of months remain before the legislation goes into effect, or apply as soon as you know you are going to travel.

To alleviate some of your concern, here are some additional recommendations to secure your passport as quickly and easily as possible for your Aruba vacation and even an outline of what to do when you dont have enough time to apply for a passport via traditional methods.

Regardless of how you plan on applying for your passport, the first thing you need to do is obtain proof of U.S. citizenship, usually in the form of a birth certificate. If you have an expired passport in your possession, that can also serve as acceptable documentation. Next, you will need to have a pair of passport pictures made. This is one of the easiest steps as many businesses such as drugstores and copy shops offer the service. Then, carefully complete the passport application available on the State Department website, or obtain an application from any post office or government facility.

Now you have to determine if you have enough time to wait 6 weeks or possibly longer for your passport to return. If you have ample time, prepare the necessary payment and mail through one of the accepted locations. To find a location to apply and pay for a passport in person, visit http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/.

If you are in a bit of a time crunch, you must determine what method will be the most effective for expediting the completion of your passport. Your best choices are expediting the application directly through the State Department or working with a third-party service. Though only the Passport Services Office of the State Department has the authority to issue passports, companies such as Passport Express and Travisa work directly with the government to secure passports in as little as 24 hours.

Either way, if it is your first passport or you have lost your expired passport, you must go to a passport acceptance facility with your passport photos, proof of citizenship and photo ID to have your application validated. The State Department lists about 7,000 locations, including courts, post offices, libraries and government offices.

At this stage, one of your options is to remit payment and mail applications from these approved locations. When mailing directly to the Passport Services Office, you will also have the ability to pay $60 for expedited shipping. Though this method doesnt guarantee passport completion for immediate departures, it can be useful if you are traveling within 3 to 4 weeks to ensure you receive your passport.

In lieu of submitting your application directly to the Passport Services Office, your alternatives are to have your materials approved for mailing via the aforementioned third-party expediting services, or to make an appointment with one of 13 regional passport agencies. The regional offices serve citizens traveling within 2 weeks and can usually provide passports within 2-3 business days. After making an appointment at such an agency, you will need to provide proof of travel within the allotted timeframe. Yet, because these offices are located in only 13 cities, the third-party companies serve as more convenient methods for simplifying and expediting your passport application.

It is also worth noting that a Passport Card, or PASS Card, program is in development for land and sea travel to and from the Caribbean. When approved for use, this credit card-sized passport alternative could eliminate the need for a traditional passport if you were to travel to Aruba via cruise from the U.S. without any international air travel.

Learn How To Capture New Business For Your Award Shop

If youve been in business long enough, you know gaining new business is important to the growth of your company. In some industrys new blood is the lifeblood of the business and without it, you die. If you want to reach your full potential in your venture, then you will need to have ongoing marketing strategies that will grow your business each year.

A large number of Award Shop owners desire to develop corporate business and gain them as a regular account. After all, who wouldnt want to have a nice repeat account with a corporation like, American Airlines or Wendys? Gaining these type of monthly accounts can increase your business and can also be used to secure other accounts as well.

Consider this you have an engraving business and you supply numerous products from plaques, trophies, badges, pens, etc and you want to develop an account with your local McDonalds. You may or may not know the owner, manager or anyone employed there on a personal basis at this time. However, when you do introduce yourself and your line of business, be prepared to hand the decision maker an impressive item. Not just a simple business card with your contact info, give them something that will cause them to remember you.

Heres the idea Most people enjoy receiving something that has been personalized for them, something with their name on it. You as an engraver have all sorts of items you can engrave and present to the manager as gift, introducing your business. Another impressive look is to have their company logo or corporate insignia engraved on the piece as well. I suggest creating a sample of what you would like to do for them on a monthly basis and plant the idea for them to present an Employee of the Month award.

Present the owner (or manager) with a 7x9 designer plaque that has their corporate logo and name engraved on it, along with wording that best describes the appreciation award. If you do not currently have their logo on file, you can obtain it quite easily by searching the web for logos & clip art, one great source is LogoFax.com. Additionally, create for them a name badge that also has their name and logo on it. Plan to leave these items behind as a free sample, demonstrating your products and services.

Another nifty thing to do is show them a large perpetual plaque. Something around a 10x13 with a nice brass header plate that has their corporate logo engraved large. If you own a laser engraver, laser their logo on black brass and present it on a walnut board. Also, double plate the header with an additional piece of gold brass and it will cause the engraved logo to stand out more on the brass plate.

Having an Employee of the Month award is great for showing appreciation to workers who do their job well. This will create an ongoing month-to-month award program that will enable you to show off many other products you have available for them. Think about it, if you are the one doing their awards and then they need a banner for a special promotion, theyre going to call you. Its your company that is on the forefront of their mind, due to them calling or seeing you each month for their Employee of the Month awards. Including getting additional nametags made for new employees that are hired each week, month or quarter.

Establishing this type of account will enable you to generate more accounts just like it. Imagine going to other establishments with the same idea and adding the fact that you already do it for McDonalds, Wendys, etc This gives you more clout and in turn builds your corporate business faster.

Using these type of ideas to get your foot in the door is sure to capture new business for your award shop and continue to grow your business.

Before You Get Married

Back towards the beginning of the 2006 wedding season I got hitched. Since then I've been to half-a-dozen more weddings as a bunch of friends (and family -- mine is huge!) tied the knot too and let me tell you, going to all those weddings is a lot of work! Especially when you're in some of them. But actually being the bride or groom is harder by a longshot.

And so, although this year's wedding season is just about over, I've got a few indispensable tips for next season's lovebirds.

1 ) Write down every task that needs to get done for the wedding. Flowers, Favors, Reception Hall, everything. Be clear about who is responsible for each task. Most problems begin with poor communication, so doing this will help cut many problems off at the source.

2 ) Don't decide to take care of [insert any wedding-related task here] next week. You're going to let it go until the last minute and then you'll be kicking yourself and going nuts. This closes in on 100% probability exponentially as the number of tasks you put off rises. If you have more than 3 tasks you're not taking care of right away, one of them is almost definitey going to come back to bite you in the backside.

3 ) If you haven't set a date yet, set one as far off as possible and stick to it. Just remind yourself of #2 every week.

4 ) Be careful with your money. You'll be spending quite a lot of it between the reception hall, the florist, Band/DJ, etc. All that other stuff is local, but some of the stuff you can take care of on the web quickly, easily, and most importantly, cheaply. I recommend http://www.GiftsAndOtherwise.com for cheap groomsmen gifts and bridesmaid gifts. Their stuff is nice and they guarantee the lowest price. Since chances are you're not buying all that stuff right at this moment, bookmark that site for future reference so you don't forget. In fact, you should probably make a bookmark/favorites folder called "Wedding Resources" or something so you have all your wedding stuff in one place. I suppose that's tip 4 1/2 actually.

5 ) The final, and perhaps most important piece of advice I have for you is this: stay out of politics. I'm quite serious. The complaints and feuds that pop up between families, and yes, even future spouses, are inevitable. Oh, sure! Right now you're saying to yourself that won't happen to you because your family/relationship is different. Let me be the first to dispel that illusion. It'll happen to you so be prepared for it and come up with a couple of ready-made plans to calm flaring tempers.

I can't promise that if you follow the above guidelines that everything will be just swell and you won't have any problems, but at the very least you will have fewer. Good luck. :)

That's it!
